Personal Stories: Gabriela

I’m Gabriela and I want to speak behalf of my allergies and asthma.

My symptoms due to my asthma are wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, bronchial stress, and headaches. Growing up, I didn’t have all the right nutrients that lead to illnesses such as colds, flu and bronchial ailments. My asthma and allergies reacted to such measures depending on the conflict. I know that there are many problems that made my asthma erupt. These conflictions are smoke, dust, roaches, chemical gasses, and stress. Growing up in New York City, I was exposed air pollution, dust, insects and heavy smoke; especially those who are second-hand smokers. My birth mother was the worst smoker and was very unsanitary and unclean with the apartment as well as her health.

When I was young, the doctors had to put me on a nebulizer treatment frequently. Not only did I have asthma, but I also have Cerebral Palsy, which prevented oxygen to my brain. When I found out from the doctors that I was allergic to cats or dogs that shed, I was so upset. Before I was brought up around a few cats not knowing I had such a bad reaction to them. Now, I made better decisions to stick with hypoallergenic pets such as poodles. I have lived around poodles for the longest part of my life. Being adopted, made it more possible for me to live a hypoallergenic life, free of allergies, which resulted in less time spent in the hospital.

In February of 2009, I met Matthew Newman. He had three cats. I would sleep over at his place on the weekends. It took him a year to get used to my asthma and allergies. I had to reduce the chances of my reactions to the pet dander by staying away. When he began to understand my allergies, he did more than just being a member of environmental organizations. He signed up to the AAFA, which is the Asthma and Allergies Foundation of America.

In 2011, Matt became an asthma rights advocate because of his environmental research, that goes hand in hand with pollutants and allergens. This inspired me to be a lot like him and help others with asthma as well. Since my physical health matters to me, I wanted to bring awareness to the people who also have these types of problems.

I know my asthma will always be there and I want to prevent it from happening again so I took further action and looked into a possible solution. When I moved to Hollywood and had my own apartment with Matt, I felt allergy free from no cats at all. During my first year after moving to Hollywod, I got Gamble, my very own poodle. In 2014, we got Cotton our mini poodle.

I have discovered that the Juice Plus vanilla shake was the perfect morning “milkshake” that defeats morning hunger. There are several categorized milks, some of which are not all that good for me. Those genres of milks that got to my asthma are whole milk, 1 Percent milk, non-fat milk, organic milk, coconut milk and Greenwise milk. The milk I currently use for my shake is almond milk.

For my health, I noticed that after a year of a healthy diet, I actually crave more whole vegetables and fruits. This also helps me tremendously when adding natural peanut butter or almond butter. I use the maca root powder in the shake as well as organic bananas. This really gives a boost, because it gives me the natural energy through fiber, potassium, protein and calcium as opposed to manufactured energy drinks that do not give you the right type of vitamin-like sources.

The best sources of the proper vitamins and minerals are from the Juice Plus Garden Blend, Juice Plus Orchard Blend, and the Juice Plus Vineyard Blend supplements. I noticed that it helps curve my hunger. Also, my asthma does not seem to flare up like it used to. I also noticed that I'm taking way less medicine and steroids. My immune system is 100 percent better. Juice Plus does not refer to it as a vitamin source. I refer to it as prevention for anything you may have going on. On the other hand, Juice Plus has helped me stay slim, full, and energetic, asthma and allergy free. I hardly ever have to go the doctor or use my inhalers.
